Meet the Team

Felicia Dawes

Felicia went on a round the world backpacking trip in 1988 and ended up in Oz for thirteen years, spending many of those years in the wine industry. While working for Mildara Blass, starting at their cellar door and office then moving onto their on-trade sales team, she studied Wine Marketing at Adelaide University where she met Will. After moving to Sydney she took up with Brown Brothers as part of their on-trade sales team before moving back to the UK in 2000. There she worked for De Bortoli for five years and gained the WSET diploma before leaving to be a mum and to work with Will and the Wine Sorted team.

Will Dawes

Will has been working in the drinks industry since 1988, for the first 12 years in his native Australia. First he managed pubs, from 1994 he managed wine shops, then while doing the Wine Marketing course at Adelaide University he met Felicia and they moved to the UK in 2001. Since then he’s worked in the wine events trade where his talents were quickly noticed. In 2004 he set up Wine Sorted. Reaching a milestone of 10 years and coming through the recession stronger than ever makes Will very proud of Wine Sorted and the great team he works with.

David Thompson

David has been working in the drinks business since he was 18. Working Nightclubs, pubs and managing Theatre bars. At the same time, he went to Film School, fell into Animation and editing, then retrained as an actor, which he still pursues with wild abandon.

His love of wine came from his Francophile father and remembers family holidays to France would always include a visit to a vineyard and the Ford Cortina straining with the annual wine purchase on it’s return. This love of all things French, brought about a property in La Vendee which came with a small parcel of land, which in turn produced wine of questionable quality. The house has now passed hands, but the vineyard now overgrown is still there for future hopes and dreams. His first job for Wine Sorted arrived in 2006, and his knowledge and love of wine has continued ever since.

Carole Hazlehurst

“Having been a wine drinker for many years – weaned on her Dad’s homemade brews – and after a career in engineering and motherhood, Carole started buying the wines for her husband’s small chain of Italian restaurants. She had been running a wine club for some years and this gave the opportunity to turn a hobby into a profession. She then became involved with the International Wine Challenge and in 2015 completed her WSET Diploma in Wines and Spirits. She did a number of events for Wine Sorted and now works almost full time the warehouse, sorting wines in advance of the events. She enjoys working at the tastings, particularly the consumer events, which gives her the chance to talk endlessly about her favourite subject. Her favourite wines tend to be big Aussie reds, but Viognier and Torrontes go down well too!”

Lisa Moretti

"Having worked 'behind the scenes' in the wine trade in shipping/stock control for almost 10 years, I decided to get out of the office and involved in the event side.

Wine Sorted are a great company to work for. The days can sometimes be long and tiring but always great fun, a good chance to catch up with the gang and see some familiar faces from the trade.

My favourite wine would have to be a full bodied Tuscan red, preferably with a big chunk of cheese!"

Matt Westcott

Logistics Manager and head of getting the kit in and out on time every time.

Darrel Allan

Resident Wine Maker. Darrel gets the job done on or off site no questions asked… and is an all-round good bloke.

Saki Chaudhry

Saki got his thirst for wine when he joined Oddbins the iconic wine merchant of its time in 1995, and has never looked back. From selling champagne to the city boys  in Canary Wharf, to fine clarets to the well-heeled lovelies in Dulwich village.

“Vinopolis was my next career move where I gained more experience in event management, I was also head of stock control/ buyer for wines and spirits. I have had the pleasure of working with the Wine Sorted team on many events in London and around the country since 2011. Now Residing in Kent after living in London for a good few years, my passion in life is wine, food, travel, and at the moment we are also having fun renovating an old Victorian house purchased a couple of years ago.”

Riccardo Giovenco

Riccardo is an Italian wine consultant. With a background in the world of design and previously working in the art events management, Riccardo decided to make his interest in wine a real job 4 years ago. He likes studying and discovering always something new about wine. He has worked with Wine Sorted since 2013, that gives him the opportunity to share his passion and knowledge with the others. He has a weakness for Riesling from the Mosel and Pinot Noir from Marlborough.

Mark Beston

Mark has worked with us since 2009 and when Marks on the job you are in extremely good hands.

Laura Bazzoni

Laura’s love for wine began when she worked in Bordeaux as part of her French and Economics degree, translating marketing materials for prestigious chateaux. After starting her working life in a French car company, Laura couldn’t believe her luck when her passion became her career and she got a break into the wine trade. (She realised that she wasn’t as excited about marketing car exhausts as she was wine!). Working for a wine importer for four years, she did all things marketing and managed their events and promotions. She often hired Wine Sorted for her events – “they always offered an amazing, reliable service with a smile”. Laura has recently come back to the trade after having children and is enjoying meeting old and new faces! “I love being part of the friendly Wine Sorted gang. There is a great team spirit as everyone works hard to ensure everything runs smoothly!” Cool climate aromatic whites or full bodied, juicy reds can normally be found in her glass. She is a strong believer that wine tastes better shared with friends.
